Question
I’m planning a trip to Japan and I’d love to experience the local dining culture. However, I don’t know how to make a reservation at a restaurant. How do I ask “Do you have a table for two at 7 PM?” in Japanese?

Shichiji ni futari no yoyaku ga dekimasuka?
Do you have a table for two at 7 PM?

Making a reservation in Japanese is straightforward with the right phrases. The word “yoyaku” means reservation. “Shichiji ni” means “at 7 PM,” and “futari” means “for two people.”

You can use this sentence structure: “time ni number of people no yoyaku ga dekimasuka?” for similar reservations at different times or for larger groups. Simply swap out the time and number as needed.

For instance, if you want to make a reservation for four at 8 PM, just say “Hachiji ni yonnin no yoyaku ga dekimasuka?”
