Question
I’m planning a trip to Japan and I want to make a restaurant reservation over the phone. How do I ask, “Do you have any available tables for two people tomorrow at 7 PM?” in Japanese?

Ashita, gogo shichiji ni futaribun no seki wa aiteimasuka?
Do you have any available tables for two people tomorrow at 7 PM?

This is a useful phrase when you want to book a table at a restaurant. Ashita means “tomorrow”; gogo shichiji means “7 PM”; futaribun means “for two people”; and aiteimasuka means “is there availability?”.

Remember to adjust the number of people and the time according to your needs. For example, if you need a table for four people at 8 PM, you would say: “Gogo hachiji ni yoninbun no seki wa aiteimasuka?”

Making reservations in advance is recommended especially if you’re dining at popular restaurants in Japan.
