I love reading Japanese hairstyle magazines and I want to try out a famous featured hair salon in Aoyama on my upcoming trip to Tokyo.
I want to keep the same length but thin it out at the same time. How do I tell the hairdresser in Japanese?
Answer by Japanese teacher
(1)
Nagasa o sono mama nokoshite, kami no lyoo o sukunakushite kudasai.
Please keep the length and reduce the amount of hair.
(2)
Nagasa o sono mama de, kami o suite kudasai.
Please keep the length and thin out the hair.
(3)
Nagasa o sono mama de, kami no bolyuumu o herashite kudasai.
Please keep the length and reduce the volume of hair.
Explanation
If this is your first time going to a hair salon in Japan, it could be a bit intimidating because of the language problem.
However, it is a great experience and I’m sure you would enjoy the attentive service there.
If you just want to keep the length of your hair but thin it out, you can use the above expressions directly.
Try it out and have fun!
